Lille Huset? To me, it is a philosophy, it's about living small,
elegant simplicity, and loving everything in your home.

As a designer, my desire to create useful designed goods came many moons ago, when I was living in Italy. I quickly fell in love with the slower, careful and thoughtful lifestyle. I remember how everything seemed special, from the meal we cooked using veggies from the garden to the beautiful linen and cotton textiles that adorned the tables and kitchen. Textiles are so basic and simple but they are things we need and use. I love making things that bring a special little touch to the simple things in life: eating together, cooking together, and snuggling up on the sofa together. I guess you could say, I am obsessed with "home."

My designs and prints are inspired by things that are special about the places we call home, the cities and each little house that is lived in and loved. I love color and create patterns that are casual, modern yet somehow classic. I LOVE adding bright colors to the collections to keep things feeling fun and new and love experimenting with different natural materials. In my current collection I hand screen print all of my designs onto natural linens and cottons using eco-friendly inks, each one literally one of a kind, making them a special part of your life.

Alyson Beaton studied architecture in undergrad in her home state of Texas, where she learned to respect the environment and create spaces that have meaning. After working in a firm in Dallas for a little bit she was introduced to the greater world of design, doing commissions and graphic installations with her friend Lance Raney, for Neiman Marcus. From there she knew it was time to expand her design knowledge base and returned to school to study visual communications. She completed her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she learned how to find what fuels her as a designer/artist and natural maker. She began her career teaching design and doing her projects on the side, perfecting her skills and learning as she went. Her world of design bridges her love of space and creating everything that expresses her love of home. She is currently living and working in Austin, Texas.

Alyson has worked with: Windham Fabrics, Barneys NY, Paper Source Stores, Nordstrom, J Crew, Heath Ceramics, Nickelodeon Studios, Seaside Florida, Walker Art Center, National Building Museum, ABC Home and Carpet, and many more independent shops.
